Firstlogic VP of Information Quality Unveils New Research, Education at MIT ICIQ 2005, TDWI World Conference in November
Market Wire, October, 2005
Firstlogic, Inc., a leading provider of comprehensive data quality solutions, announced today that Frank Dravis, the company's vice president of information quality, will debut new data quality research next week at two prestigious industry conferences, the TDWI World Conference, the premiere event for business intelligence and data warehouse education, and the International Conference on Information Quality (ICIQ) 2005, a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange information quality knowledge. Dravis leads Firstlogic's primary research of data quality markets and technology trends while working organizations across industries to improve data quality processes and strategies.
In a newly created TDWI course, Dravis will present "Data Quality Strategy Development" Nov. 2 at the TDWI World Conference, Orlando, Fla. In the course, technology professionals will learn the importance of corporate goals to a data quality project, how to mine project requirements from the problems and needs assessment, the six factors of a data quality strategy, and how to build a data quality strategy.
"Developing a structured data quality strategy is crucial to any data quality project's success, be it a simple effort to clean up area codes in your contact database, or the enterprise-wide effort to integrate multiple source systems into one master customer information file," said Dravis. "I look forward to sharing this new course information -- which I consider crucial to the successful deployment of any data quality initiative -- with TDWI participants."
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Mass. hosts the tenth annual ICIQ 2005 Conference Nov. 4-6, where Dravis will discuss "The IQ Solution Cycle." ICIQ 2005 shares findings and experience on topics such as IQ concepts, IQ management, case studies, best practices, cost/benefit analysis, IQ and data warehousing, IQ and e-business, policies and standards.
According to Dravis, organizations go through a number of stages before they reach the implementation phase of an information quality initiative. His paper, based on original research, will discuss in depth each of the 21 unique stages that help guide projects from start to finish.
Dravis acts as Firstlogic's primary liaison in their sponsorship of the Total Data Quality Management (TDQM) program at MIT. He frequently publishes his research in white papers and articles in industry journals and authors a data quality blog, located at http://weblogs.firstlogic.com/dravis. He is an elected member of the International Association of Information and Data Quality Professionals (IAIDQ) board of directors, currently serving as vice-president of partner relations for the non-profit professional group that aims to improve business effectiveness through quality data and information.
