Net Integration's Nitix for Application Servers Achieves "Ready for IBM DB2 Software For Linux" Designation
Market Wire, November, 2005
Net Integration Technologies Inc. (NITI), a developer of autonomic Linux®-based server operating system software, today announced that its Nitix Application Edition (AE) server software has obtained the "Ready for IBM DB2 Software for Linux" designation. Net Integration's Nitix AE software offers users an operating system with self-healing, self-maintaining and self-aware capabilities. With IBM DB2 universal database on Nitix AE, small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can benefit from affordable autonomic features such as Linux reliability, intelligent and quick installation, and automatic back up of application program files and data.
Due to its autonomic capabilities, Nitix AE can eliminate many of the added costs of having a Linux expert to oversee its operation. The ability to quickly deploy applications on DB2 systems that are automatically installed and backed up can enable customers to focus on getting a system tailored to their requirements as opposed to spending time on installation. While testing with a well-known accounting application, the installation time of the server-based system with Nitix AE and IBM DB2 database was reduced to 20 minutes from three days.(1)
"We are confident that the quick deployment capabilities of Nitix AE with IBM DB2 will give developers and users the best database and autonomic OS for today's growing enterprises," said Net Integration CEO Ozzy Papic. "We are very excited to be working with IBM and look forward to seeing our autonomic server software and IBM's autonomic hardware work to save businesses money and enhance productivity for years to come."
"Our customers are choosing to adopt Linux in their data centers because it provides the scalability and performance they need," said Bernie Spang, Director, IBM Information Management. "By meeting the requirements of 'The Ready for DB2' program, Nitix Application Edition has proven that it can provide businesses with greater flexibility, management and availability for their DB2 environments."
