Symantec Offers Webcast on the Fundamentals of Spyware, Adware

Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced it will host a webcast discussing the past, present, and projected future of spyware and adware. The one-hour webcast, titled "Spyware and Adware Fundamentals," will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at 10 a.m. PST. Dave Cole, director of product management, Symantec Security Response, will lead the webcast. The presentation will provide both enterprise and home computer users with a better understanding of the origins of spyware and adware, potential risks associated with these programs, and recommended countermeasures. The webcast will include topics such as:

-- The business of spyware and adware, including who develops and uses
spyware and adware
-- Current and pending antispyware legislation
-- Types of spyware and adware and how they work
-- How to prevent installation and remove spyware and adware programs
-- Emerging trends in spyware and adware and how to protect against these
risks
