Smartphones Technologies Signs Mobile Content Agreement With FOX Interactive Media
Market Wire, November, 2005
Smartphones Technologies, Inc. and FOX Interactive Media are teaming up to deliver college sports content to cell phones. Under the agreement, Smartphones will provide FOXSports.com with officially licensed college sports wallpaper for its mobile storefront, formatted for delivery to mobile devices. FOXSports.com, which is now operated by Fox Interactive Media, is one of the top sports websites in the country with more than 12 million unique visitors per month and is the primary sports destination on the MSN network.
Smartphones Technologies recently announced groundbreaking mobile content licensing agreements with more than 35 leading colleges and universities. These agreements give Smartphones exclusive mobile content rights to many of the country's top schools in licensing revenue. While college logos and fight songs have been available for quite some time, Smartphones is the first company to offer officially licensed college sports photos, audio and video clips for download to mobile phones. Instead of offering logos alone, Smartphones integrates exclusive sports action photos with the college logo to create cool new content fans will love on their phones.
College sports generate over $2.7 billion in licensing revenue per year. Smartphones' college licenses include exclusive wallpapers, animated screensavers, mobile video clips, voice ringtones, ringback tones, text messaging campaigns and mobile games. In addition to the content provided by the schools, Smartphones sends its own photographers and video crews to college games to continually build its content library.
"Fox Sports is the leader in sports broadcasting with an incredibly loyal fan base," said Mike Merrill, Founder and CEO of Smartphones Technologies. "We're excited to offer our college sports wallpaper for mobile phones to FOXSports.com customers."
