SAND Achieves Certification for Integration With SAP NetWeaver(R) Business Intelligence
Market Wire, January, 2006
SAND Technology, Inc. (OTC BB: SNDTF), an international provider of enterprise information management solutions, today announced that its SAND Dynamic Nearline Access software (incorporating SAND Searchable Archive technology) has been certified by SAP as an integrated ABAP add-on with SAP NetWeaver® Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver® BI), version 3.1, leveraging the SAP GUI for Web, achieving "Powered by SAP NetWeaver" status.
"The certification from SAP is an exciting step forward in our partnership," said Jerry Shattner, Executive Vice President, Corporate Alliances for SAND. "It means that SAP has officially recognized our successful compliance with its ABAP technology standards as part of SAND Dynamic Nearline Access to help reduce total cost of ownership for SAP NetWeaver based platform customers."
Proven Interoperability to Advance Nearline Information Management
ABAP integration testing of SAND Dynamic Nearline Access with SAP NetWeaver BI included the following functionality tests:
-- Ability to store ODS Objects and InfoCubes as nearline data
-- Ability to rapidly restore and seamlessly copy nearline data into SAP
NetWeaver BI
-- Ability to delete nearline data in SAP NetWeaver BI
-- Ability to transparently access nearline data via SAP NetWeaver native
reporting, and analysis tools, or via other SAP-certified BI interfaces.
SAND Dynamic Nearline Access is a highly compact analytic repository that typically stores data in less than 10 percent of the space required by an equivalent relational database. It is currently providing SAP BI customers with a cost-efficient and reliable nearline solution enabling easy access to data that is not of critical importance but which may still be valuable to the enterprise, while reducing the costs of data management and storage.
"SAND Dynamic Nearline Access offers a seamless way for users of SAP NetWeaver BI to access older data for critical historical analyses," says Dr. Michael Hahne, lead SAP BI consultant at CUNDUS AG and author of several textbooks on SAP NetWeaver BI. "At the same time, the unique capabilities of SAND Dynamic Nearline Access result in a very small data footprint, thereby minimizing data management challenges."
About SAND Dynamic Nearline Access
SAND Dynamic Nearline Access, built on SAND Searchable Archive technology, is a highly compact analytic repository that typically stores data in less than 10 percent of the space required by an equivalent relational data warehouse. Production installations have yielded 80 percent to 90 percent compression of input data, which translates to 95 percent compression in comparison to a similar indexed relational database.
SAND Dynamic Nearline Access's read-only archive files can be searched using standard Business Intelligence tools and methods without decompressing the data first. In nearline applications, the selected data can be efficiently restored to the online warehouse, Operational Data Store or analytic server. In offline configurations, the selected data is queried in its compressed form without the need to restore it.
