Structural Graphics Delivers Pop and Sparkle for NBC's "Heist" Magazine Insert
Market Wire, March, 2006
Looking to bring real sparkle to its promotion campaign, NBC selected Structural Graphics, the leader in high-impact dimensional marketing solutions, to develop a magazine insert to promote the premiere of the new NBC series, "Heist." The resulting dimensional advertisement effectively hooks readers with its "exploding page" execution to maximize the size of the ad space, as well as its unique "bling" finish.
"We wanted the insert to have an immediate impact on readers -- both in how the ad functioned and how it looked -- that was in keeping with the action and the style of the show," said Lynne Gullo, director of print production for The NBC Agency. "Working with Structural Graphics, we were able to come away with a very distinct magazine insert that met our time constraints and allowed us to maximize the available ad space."
By opening the 4-page spread, the "Heist" insert automatically "explodes" from a standard two-page magazine spread to a larger 15 3/4" x 18 3/4" ad. The ad also includes a diamond-encrusted logo with added "bling," courtesy of glitter particles specially added to the paper coating by Williamson Printing. In keeping with NBC's timing requirements, Structural Graphics was able to print, assemble and deliver the insert in less than three weeks. 380,000 inserts were created and inserted into Entertainment Weekly subscription issues in Los Angeles and New York.
"We're very pleased that we were able to effectively turn around a unique and visually stimulating magazine insert in a condensed timeframe that exceeded NBC's expectations," said Michael Dambra, vice president of marketing for Structural Graphics. "Our unique ability to work with clients to ensure their specific project requirements are met or surpassed is a key strength of our design and production team. We look forward to continued opportunities to serve our clients, and to lead the industry in delivering innovative marketing solutions."
