Market Wire, April, 2006
Vue Technology, Inc. today announced that Gerard Cunningham, vice president of operating strategy for Gap Inc., has joined the company's advisory board. Drawing on a distinguished career with some of the leading names in retail including Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic, Cunningham brings expertise in customer-facing retail strategies to the leading provider of item level RFID solutions. As Vue Technology continues to roll out its TrueVUE RFID Platform to retailers, the company welcomes Cunningham's thought leadership and well-respected insight in retail and also in the CPG industry as the founder and former leader of Procter & Gamble's European Marketing Analytics Group.
"Gerard is a true industry leader and we are honored to welcome him to Vue Technology as a valued advisor and mentor," said Robert Locke, CEO of Vue Technology. "His well-honed consumer insight and his in-depth understanding of the needs of retailers and major CPG players will greatly benefit Vue Technology as the company continues to provide retailers with the only successful infrastructure for enterprise-wide item level RFID implementations."
Over the course of his career, Cunningham has led the industry in utilizing new technologies to localize and optimize the retail customer experience. In his current position as vice president of operating strategy for Gap Inc., Cunningham is responsible for the localization of Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic, overseeing a strategy that requires the integration of cutting-edge analytical solutions into day-to-day business processes. Prior to his tenure at Gap, Inc., Cunningham founded and led Procter & Gamble's European Marketing Analytics Group, a team that integrated new point-of-sale (POS) data and consumer insight research to generate actionable recommendations.
"Vue Technology is poised to dramatically impact the entire retail experience as they provide retailers with ROI driven, item-level RFID solutions that deliver unprecedented visibility into the retail supply chain," said Gerard Cunningham, new advisory board member for Vue Technology. "I look forward to contributing my insight and expertise as Vue sets out to transform the way the industry tracks and manages inventory all the way down to the item level."
Cunningham also led the product marketing and implementation teams for Evant (acquired by Manhattan Associates), a Kleiner Perkins-backed, enterprise software company that maximizes inventory productivity for retailers and wholesalers. In that position, he was a seed investor in DemandTec, an enterprise software company providing price optimization solutions to retailers. Furthermore, as Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Mayfield, a leading venture capital firm, Cunningham co-led the investment in Trigo (acquired by IBM), a multi-channel product management company. These companies all deliver high value, optimized localization solutions, from which Cunningham derived his retail expertise and interest in implementing state-of-the-art technology.
Cunningham has a BSc in Mathematics from Manchester University, England and an MSc Operations Research from Scottish Business School, Strathclyde, Scotland.
