American Megatrends Demonstrates Complete Blade Management Solutions at Server Blade Summit

Market Wire, April, 2006

SERVER BLADE SUMMIT -- American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a leading provider of remote server and blade management technologies, announced today at the Server Blade Summit the building blocks of a complete server blade management offering, ranging from enterprise management software to the MegaRAC® CM1000 chassis management controller.

Building on the strong foundation of its remote management experience in MegaRAC® service processors and IPMI health monitoring and alert system software, AMI announces a range of out-of-band server management building blocks that give OEMs the highest degree of flexibility and customization for full-scale server blade management:

-- MegaRAC® CM1000 chassis management controller
-- MegaRAC® ES1000 centralized management software
-- MegaRAC® Studio development environment

Server blades benefit the data center with remarkable space savings, power savings, flexibility and scalability that allow administrators to grow their investment in equipment accordingly with their business needs.

AMI's MegaRAC® CM1000 Chassis Management Controller (CMC) with active-passive failover provides sophisticated manageability to server blade chassis. MegaRAC® CM1000 is responsible for monitoring and managing through a rich web-based user interface all the necessary components inside a blade server, including processor blades and compute blades; in addition, the CMC deploys a chassis-wide intelligent power management scheme.

MegaRAC® ES1000 is a browser-based management software for any IPMI-enabled server, including AMI's embedded management products. The software features SSL security, complete event log and full compliance with standards such as IPMI 2.0 and CLP/SMASH for cross-platform management. OEMs can easily and completely customize MegaRAC® ES1000 or add extensions to manage virtually any device in the network with MegaRAC® Studio. A capability unique to MegaRAC® ES1000 is the KVMSViewer that enables simultaneous redirection of multiple servers connected with a MegaRAC® K1 KVM over IP.

MegaRAC® Studio is a development environment for creating the graphical user interface and logic for AMI embedded management devices. Developers can design the interface and generate related JavaScript code for cross browser and cross platform support. MegaRAC® Studio enables OEMs to easily extend and customize the functionality of AMI's embedded management components, adding their unique manageability features and specific Intellectual Property.

AMI MegaRAC® server management technology provides a wide set of building blocks, including PCI cards, embedded daughter cards, IPMI management firmware and centralized management software. Those elements increase a server's Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) factor by reducing the mean time required to rapidly find and correct common faults that require remote system reset or other corrective actions, such as re-flashing the system BIOS.

At AMI's booth, number 207, at Server Blade Summit being held this week in Garden Grove, California, AMI will showcase a range of MegaRAC® management solutions for blades servers including MegaRAC® CM1000, MegaRAC® ES1000 and MegaRAC® Studio. In addition, Sanjoy Maity, AMI's vice president of software engineering, will be a panelist on the roundtable on blade management session entitled, "Leveraging Emerging Web Technologies in Blade Server Management Controllers." It will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. AMI's software engineering manager, Hisham Khalafalla, will be presenting a session entitled, "BIOS/Firmware Updates for Multiple Blades." This session will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in session 202.
