Riney Appoints Jamie King to Managing Director
Market Wire, May, 2006
Publicis & Hal Riney today announced the appointment of Jamie King to the newly created post of Managing Director. In this new role, King will oversee the account management and planning functions, and will continue to drive new business efforts as well as the agency's continued focus on enhancing its integrated offering. King will also join the creative and operational leadership at Riney to help shape the vision and direction of the agency going forward.
"Jamie's contributions to the team have been crucial to the momentum we've built over the past year, including, of course, an impressive new business track record," said Karen Francis, chief executive officer at Publicis & Hal Riney. "This new position allows us to build on that by applying the successful posture, thinking and approach the team has developed to other critical areas of the business. Heightened focus on the key functions that enable creative excellence illustrates our commitment to raising the bar for our overall product."
As Managing Director, King will continue his role in leading the agency's new business efforts, will manage both the account management and planning departments and will drive the agency's ongoing efforts to enhance its integrated offering, specifically in the areas of interactive, mobile marketing, design and identity. In addition to his part in building out these capabilities at Riney over the past year, King has led the development of integrated campaigns encompassing alternative media, interactive, sports marketing, event marketing, POS, package design, sampling and experiential marketing. Such integrated work has been widely recognized at the D&ADs and the Clios.
"I'm very proud of our team's recent accomplishments, including three agency of record wins in the last nine months alone," said King. "I'm looking forward to playing a broader role at the agency and applying myself and our new capabilities to our clients."
Prior to joining Riney last April as Senior Vice President, Director of Brand Integration, King held several roles at Leo Burnett in his 11 year tenure, culminating with his position as Executive Vice President, Group Account Director. While at Leo Burnett, he worked on some of the country's most iconic brands, including Allstate, Dewars, Pillsbury/Green Giant, Heinz, Altoids, Starbucks and others. King has championed campaigns that have won creative recognition at Cannes, the Kellys, the One Show and the D&ADs. In addition to this creative recognition, he has contributed to five Effie-award-winning campaigns for Altoids, Allstate and Heinz, demonstrating his dedication to building client businesses.
In 2003, he joined LB Works as Chief Operating Officer, where he focused on managing the day-to-day operations of the agency, enhancing the company's infrastructure and its financial health as well as leading much of its new business efforts. King helped grow LB Works into a formidable agency in Chicago with a roster that included 11 clients spanning eight categories -- including Gateway, Starbucks, Altoids and EarthLink. King also led the agency's efforts to secure Starbucks and was the Agency's management lead on their Retail North American business.
King rejoined Leo Burnett USA in 2004 as an EVP, Group Account Director and was asked to help the agency secure new business, which he did by winning the PetSmart business in June 2004, a business he ran. He followed that by helping to win Western Union in the fall 0f 2004 and proceeded to run that business as well while continuing to play a leadership role on Altoids.
