Onset Technology Acquires MessageVine to Extend METAmessage Emergency Communications for BlackBerry

Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2006 -- Onset Technology, a leading developer of enterprise access software for wireless handhelds, announced today it is acquiring MessageVine, a leading provider of mobile instant messaging and presence solutions for mobile operators, service providers and enterprises. Onset will augment its research and development team with MessageVine developers and intellectual property. Terms of the acquisition are not disclosed and completion is subject to shareholder approval.
Onset's METAmessage® is the leading software optimizing emergency communications through the BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution(TM). BlackBerry is developed and manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM). The addition of MessageVine's capabilities will enable users of METAmessage Emergency Communications to blast emergency messages across multiple platforms -- letting a BlackBerry user simultaneously communicate with a diverse deployment of handheld systems such as Symbian OS(TM), J2ME®, BREW®, and Smartphone.
