Aventail VP of Product Management Selected to Speak at Seattle ITEC Conference
Market Wire, June, 2006
Leading SSL VPN technology company Aventail Corporation today announced that the company's VP of Product Management, Randy Boroughs, will speak at the Seattle ITEC conference. Boroughs' presentation, entitled, "Networking Infrastructure Basics: Smart versus Dumb Networks," will compare and contrast the fundamental shift towards building intelligence into networks versus building security around the application data center.
"The attempt to create a 'Fort Knox' of corporate networks is in stark contrast with the reality of how network communication is evolving and how users want to access the network," said Randy Boroughs. "At the end of the day, connectivity vendors should focus their efforts on building faster, easier to manage, and more reliable networks. Smart networks are good for vendors, not customers."
In the presentation Boroughs will challenge the notion that every node on the network needs intelligence built into it and demonstrate the costs of intelligent networks versus the costs if a company leverages the efficiencies of public infrastructure and the power of the Internet. His speech will also examine how a secure access gateway used as an overlay for network access control (NAC) is more cost effective -- and timely -- than an extensive NAC-enabled network upgrade. The session will take place on Thursday, June 22 from 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at the Washington State Convention Center.
