Vidient Names Noted Airport CEO, Aviation Pioneer to Advisory Board

Vidient Systems, Inc., a developer of behavior recognition and analysis software that detects security and safety breaches in real time, announced today the appointment of Louis Turpen, former chief executive officer of San Francisco International Airport, to its Board of Advisors.

Mr. Turpen has a distinguished career in international aviation, serving for over two decades as chief executive officer of major international airports. At San Francisco International Airport, he successfully completed reconstruction of the terminal complex, as well as the planning, designing, financing, and initial construction of a new 2 million-square-foot International Terminal. As CEO of the Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, he completed a redevelopment initiative that included two new runways and replacement of most of the terminal, cargo, and maintenance facilities.

During his career, Mr. Turpen has been the innovator of several aviation programs, including the first airport counterterrorism plan in 1985 and the first noise mitigation plan in 1987. He served as a member of the Airports Council International World Governing Board -- representing more than 1,400 airports in 167 countries -- from 1999-2004. Elected as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in Great Britain in 1991 and in 1996, Turpen served on the Board of Directors of the Airports Council International Pacific Region Airports from 1982 until 1995 and as its president in 1983, 1989, and 1993.

Mr. Turpen was honored by the City of San Francisco Airports Commission in the dedication of the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum at San Francisco International Airport. He is president of the San Francisco Aeronautical Society, which is dedicated to preserving the history of commercial aviation in the Pacific.
