Elluminate, Inc. Launches Elluminate Live! (R) 7.0 Web Conferencing Software
Market Wire, July, 2006
Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration software for the real-time organization, today announced the launch of the latest version of its flagship product, Elluminate Live! ® 7.0. This newest release tailors the product for effective blended learning in classrooms for online group collaboration, and enhances accessibility for people with disabilities. Elluminate has expanded the capabilities of its live collaboration and conferencing software to improve the user experience, adding file transfer, full duplex audio, participant profiles and accelerator keys, among other features.
"Our customers in both academic institutions and corporations tell us that using Elluminate Live! is just as good as, if not better than an in-person meeting," said Rajeev Arora, vice president of marketing and strategy for Elluminate. "The improvements we've made to version 7.0 increase our dedication to demystifying online collaboration, making it seem as if you're working directly with the people in your group regardless of location."
New Features Enhance Usability, Interaction and Collaboration
Working towards Elluminate's No User Left Behind goal, the new release provides comprehensive ADA 508C compliance, and has incorporated several features that make the product easier to use and more functional for both corporate and academic meetings or classes. Elluminate Live! 7.0's user interface has improved, giving attendees higher resolution on presentation files and moderators the ability to import animated files. The new features highlighted below provide many benefits:
-- Industry best cross-platform support: Continuing the tradition of
supporting multiple platforms, Elluminate Live! 7.0 now supports native
look and feel for both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. In addition,
this release has now been tested and certified to work with Red Hat Linux
as well as Novell SUSE Linux.
-- File transfer: Users in live sessions can transfer and receive all
types of files -- including audio, video, and PowerPoint, among others --
and save them to their computers. In playback mode for archived sessions,
users are prompted to accept files at the point at which they were
transferred during the live session.
-- Social networking: Each participant can now create user profiles,
either by importing information and images from a vCard, or by entering
information manually. Participants in a live classroom as well as those
watching the archived session can get information on who else is in the
session, fostering communications between group members during and after
the meeting. The moderator can choose to keep this information public or
private, depending on the nature of the session.
-- Enhanced interaction: Multiple users can now speak at the same time,
allowing for easy interaction. The product also enables speaker panels,
which gives users the ability to easily transition between speakers.
-- Enhanced accessibility: Keyboard shortcuts and mnemonics permit easy
navigation without the use of a mouse. Accelerator keys can be used for
emoticons, polling features, hand-raising (to ask a question) and text
messaging. Closed Captioning now provides an easy way to save the text
transcript of the session.
-- Increased scalability: Elluminate Live! 7.0 can be used in a hosted
environment or through the use of Elluminate's Server software. The Server
software now supports 16 or more processors, with a maximum benchmarked
simultaneous user number of 10,000.
-- New toolbar: By using a mini-controller toolbar within the session,
moderators can share files and entire desktops with the click of a single
button.
-- Organizational tools: In addition, breakout rooms, a popular feature
on previous versions of Elluminate Live!, can now be managed and renamed by
group, allowing the moderator to be more organized with small groups in a
class or meeting.
"Once again, the Elluminate team has done a great job of evolving the Elluminate Live! platform," said Stephen Laster, director of curriculum innovation and technology at Babson College. "Our students, faculty and staff can not only use it as our virtual classroom but can now leverage it for small group work, focus group sessions and any other type of distance-based live collaboration. Enhancements such as two-way talk for small groups prove that the Elluminate team understands the needs of their client base."
Availability
Elluminate Live! 7.0 will be generally available for purchase in July 2006 directly from Elluminate or through its network of qualified resellers worldwide.
