Market Wire, August, 2006
Socket Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), an innovative provider of mobile productivity products, today announced the availability of the Go Wi-Fi!(TM) P300 - 802.11g SDIO card. Wi-Fi growth is rapidly increasing as mobile users continue to embrace the technology for its convenience and as a means to improve productivity. Gartner predicts that wireless email users worldwide will reach 20 million in 2006 and 100 million in 2009. As Wi-Fi hotspots become increasingly available users are looking to add wireless functionality to their Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and converged phone devices. The Socket Go Wi-Fi! The Socket Go Wi-Fi! P300 enables all of the features that users want in a mobile device, including enhanced roaming capabilities, enterprise-class security, network location, and mobile email access with intuitive, easy-to-use software. The Go Wi-Fi! P300 Card includes the highly acclaimed Socket Wi-Fi Companion software that makes Wi-Fi connectivity and management extremely easy for the user. In addition to having the lowest power consumption and smallest form factor of any 802.11g SDIO card available, the Go Wi-Fi! P300 also provides significantly faster data throughput than wireless broadband and speeds up to 100 times faster than standard phone connections.
"Due to the higher data rates and backward-compatibility with the 802.11b Wi-Fi standard, the Go Wi-Fi! P300 offers today's mobile user unprecedented functionality for their Windows Mobile devices," said Peter Phillips, vice president of marketing at Socket Communications. "Users can easily find, connect and manage a secure Wireless LAN connection when they need it, whether at the office or working remotely from home, an airport, or coffee shop."
