Verizon Wireless and the American Cancer Society Use MobileCharge(TM) Credit Card Authorization Solution for Charity Golf Tournament
Market Wire, August, 2006
On Monday July 24th MobileVision, Inc., together with Verizon Wireless and the American Cancer Society, Inc., took part in the Tenth Annual Maryland Women's Golf Tournament to Fight Breast Cancer in Gaithersburg, MD. The group partnered to successfully utilize MobileCharge(TM), a wireless credit card solution, to process donations throughout the event on Verizon BlackBerry wireless handhelds.
MobileVision worked closely with the American Cancer Society's South Atlantic Division, Infinite Peripherals, Inc., and Verizon Wireless to incorporate MobileCharge(TM) into the American Cancer Society's workflow. By using the MobileCharge(TM) turn-key bundle, employees and volunteers are able to process real-time donations (via credit card) wirelessly, rather than the pen and carbon-copy form method that currently exists. The solution presents an efficient and secure method of handling donations and a simple way for charitable organizations to transact. The end result is an increase in the amount of money raised to fight the battle against cancer.
"We are excited about the relationship with MobileVision and Verizon Wireless," said Rick Riehl, Vice President of Vehicle Donations for the American Cancer Society's South Atlantic Division. "We can now collect donations and associated data through wireless devices in the field. We expect that service to our constituents will increase as we will be capturing donation information in a more accurate and timely manner."
The MobileCharge(TM) wireless point-of-sale software is bundled with integrated mobile credit card swipe and thermal printer hardware and works with wireless PDAs running RIM BlackBerry(TM), Palm(TM) or Windows Mobile operating systems. Direct connections to merchant providers, processors and gateways allow MobileCharge(TM) to bring secure credit card processing (and other functions normally performed by back-office staff) to the workforce at card-present swipe rates resulting in an immediate cost savings for end users.
The wide variety of applications perform mobile point-of-sale transactions, print receipts, scan barcodes, gather and submit electronic form data, capture signatures and synchronize with back-office systems in a real-time environment.
