NextPhase Wireless Accelerates Network Upgrade for WiMAX Rollout
Market Wire, August, 2006
NextPhase Wireless (OTCBB: NXPW), a next-generation wireless connectivity company that specializes in integrated Internet, voice and data communication solutions, today announced that it is accelerating its network upgrade program in readiness to begin deploying WiMAX services in early 2007.
The company has built a next-generation WiMAX wireless network that delivers flexible, scalable, reliable and cost-effective connectivity solutions to businesses and municipalities throughout Southern California. NextPhase is now rapidly upgrading its backhaul capabilities, utilizing licensed spectrum.
"When NextPhase began, in 2004, we made a conscious decision to deploy WiMAX-ready equipment in building out our wireless footprint. We did not want to wait until standards were ratified, and certified WiMAX products were shipping," said Robert Ford, NextPhase's President and CEO. "By focusing on customers' needs and not just on the enabling technologies, we have developed a comprehensive portfolio of connectivity solutions and now have over 3500 customers," added Ford.
"WiMAX technologies have advanced in leaps and bounds over the last 18 months, as both the fixed (802.16d) and mobile (802.16e) variants of the standards have been ratified, WiMAX-certified products are now shipping, and most recently, the announcement by Sprint Nextel of their intent to deploy mobile WiMAX technologies as part of their 4G Wireless Broadband Initiative," said Ford.
"In talking with our customers about their needs, we're seeing that ubiquitous connectivity is, and increasingly will be, a key enabler in reducing costs, increasing productivity, and maintaining a competitive edge. By accelerating our network upgrade program, we're further strengthening our ability to provide flexible, scalable, reliable and cost-effective solutions that empower our customers," added Ford.
