GARDA APPOINTS MS. HELENE DESMARAIS TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Garda World Security Corporation (TSX: GW), a North American leader in security and investigations services, announced today the appointment of Ms. Helene Desmarais to its Board of Directors.
Ms. Desmarais holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Montreal. She is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal Enterprises and Innovation Centre (CEIM) since 1996.

Ms. Desmarais has served as Chairman of the Board of the School of HEC Montreal since 2003 and Co-chair of the International Advisory Board of HEC Montreal since 1990; Chairman of the advisory committee of the Faculty of Medicine of Universite de Montreal since 2006; President of the Steering Committee and member of the Board of Governors of the Conference of Montreal since 1995; First Vice President of the Board of Directors and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal; Chairman of the Board and of the Executive Committee of the Societe de developpement economique Ville-Marie since 1998; Chairman of the Board of the Societe d'Investissement Jeunesse since 2001 and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal since 2004. In addition, she is a member of the Board of directors of The Montreal Economic Institute; of The Institute for Governance of Private and Public Organizations; of the C.D. Howe Institute; of the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montreal; of the Genome Quebec; of the VAL-CHUM, L.P. (commercialization activities - technology evaluation) and of the Societe de developpement Technopole Angus. Ms. Desmarais is a member of the Advisory Board of the Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council of Canada.
Ms. Desmarais replaces Mr. Jacques Vasseur who is forced to resign due to health reasons. "It is with regret that I see one of our great ambassadors leave the board of directors. Concurrent to the appointment of Ms. Desmarais, the Corporation will grant her as an incentive 50,000 options, each one giving the right to acquire one common class "A" share of the Corporation at an exercise price of $23.40 each, exercisable for a period of five years and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the Stock Option Plan of the Corporation.
