Global Technology Leader CA Selects ServiceSource to Manage EMEA Maintenance Contracts

Market Wire, September, 2006

ServiceSource, a global outsource sales organization focused exclusively on increasing support and maintenance revenue for technology companies, today announced that CA, one of the world's largest information technology (IT) management software companies, has selected ServiceSource to maximize its maintenance renewals in both Europe, Middle East and Africa. CA recruited ServiceSource to handle channel renewals for the EMEA market, as well as to quickly integrate new acquisitions into its international renewals efforts. By leveraging ServiceSource's capabilities, CA expects to improve renewal performance in key customer segments by approximately 25%. CA will also rely on ServiceSource for improved reporting of results, streamlined revenue recognition and ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

"CA has systematically acquired promising companies in the technology sector. Folding these transactions seamlessly into a worldwide renewals program is incredibly time consuming and costly -- especially when you are dealing with multiple languages and currencies," said Andrew Dutton, Senior Vice President & General Manager, International Sales at CA. "We are committed to building a world-class maintenance program and recognized that our internal renewals program could be improved. We identified ServiceSource as the leader in this space because of the millions of dollars they have under management as well as their deep language expertise in EMEA. They can generate significant incremental revenue from our European renewal base, deliver significantly more detailed analytics and do so at a fraction of our cost."

"ServiceSource has been able to fill a very obvious market need by delivering improved results, reporting and best practices in a comprehensive solution. The service offering we provide to CA has been adopted by many international clients including BEA, Novell and Sun Microsystems," said Crosbie Burns, ServiceSource's EVP of EMEA Operations. "Our clients require predictable success worldwide and results that are globally consistent, regardless of increasing complexity. It is a tremendous proof point for our solution that CA depends on ServiceSource to improve their renewal rates. So far, we have been able to exceed CA's expectations and assist the company by driving incremental revenue within one quarter of signing our contract."

Profitable since inception in 1999, ServiceSource was founded with one mission: to maximize support and maintenance revenue for technology companies. Internationally, ServiceSource counts the technology industry's leading companies as clients, serving nearly 40 hardware, software and telecom equipment providers. ServiceSource's global efforts are currently growing at an unparalleled rate, and the company boasts an international client list including: BEA Systems, Blue Coat Systems, Borland Software Corporation and Novell. It currently manages seven regions throughout Europe for Sun Microsystems.

For technology companies with significant European operations, this maintenance stream has the potential to generate 15% to 20% of total worldwide revenue. Yet renewal rates for European operations are typically below reported industry averages and often well below the 85-95% ServiceSource generates for its customers. This underperformance is due to the fact that maximizing international maintenance revenue requires significant investments such as: a dedicated service sales team, native language speakers, knowledge of in-country practices, and systems designed to manage local currencies.

CA's renewals are managed from ServiceSource's international headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, where ServiceSource currently provides native language sales capabilities in eighteen languages including; Arabic, Dutch, German, Flemish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, Slovak and Swedish. It operates 6 days a week in order to serve European, Middle Eastern and African markets. For CA, ServiceSource operates in over 60 countries and closes maintenance transactions in nine languages.
