The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) announced today that Fletcher Allen Health Care, located in Burlington, Vermont, has selected UHC as its group purchasing and supply chain services organization.

"UHC provides the breadth and depth of supply chain services our organization needs to achieve our supply chain goals," said Dennis Maher, Vice President Supply Chain. "Working more closely with UHC's Supply Chain Optimization staff, we will be better positioned to leverage the data and analysis UHC provides to help manage our supply costs." Fletcher Allen Health Care has begun working with UHC in the areas of custom and regional contracting and standardization and accesses the contract portfolio through UHC's contracting services company, Novation.

"Fletcher Allen Health Care has been an active member of UHC since 2000. We are delighted to welcome them into participation with our supply chain and group purchasing services," said Roberta Graham, UHC's senior vice president.

UHC continues to experience growth in its Supply Chain Optimization program. Since 2004, UHC's purchasing volume has grown 24%. Members, including University of Missouri Healthcare and the Medical University of South Carolina, have recently expanded their participation in UHC's growing supply chain services, which include physician preference item management, supply chain informatics, custom and regional contracting, and other supply chain strategy and performance improvement consulting services.
