Men & Mice Brings True Enterprise IP Address Management to Microsoft Active Directory Networks
Market Wire, October, 2006
Men & Mice, a leading provider of DNS, DHCP and IP address management solutions, today announced Men & Mice Suite version 5.5, offering a true enterprise IP address management solution for Microsoft Active Directory-based networks.
The Men & Mice Suite allows organizations to leverage their existing skills and investments, by providing a sophisticated management layer on top of existing DNS and DHCP servers in a non-intrusive manner. The Men & Mice Suite provides centralized management of DNS, DHCP and IP configuration, offering an integrated view of the DNS, DHCP and IP address infrastructure. Network managers can now view and update subnets through one unified interface, instead of managing DNS and DHCP through different interfaces, while also managing other IP address data separately. The Men & Mice Suite further provides the ability to automate common processes and delegate responsibility for given subnets and routine tasks, so they can be handled professionally by local administrators or helpdesk personnel.
"The Men & Mice Suite has been on the market for several years now and we know, and appreciate how much value it has brought to our customers. Building on their feedback and our own research, we have incorporated many new features and enhancements into version 5.5, which will enable us to bring even more value to our customers and further guarantee the success of our solution in the marketplace," says Men & Mice product manager, Sigurdur Ragnarsson. "The new release is also strategic, as it deepens our commitment to the Microsoft platform. We know that our new solution will bring unmatched value to enterprises running on large, widely dispersed Microsoft-based networks. The Men & Mice Suite provides managers of such networks with unprecedented control and flexibility in DNS, DHCP and IP address management. At last, this group is provided with total control over their IP address infrastructure."
The new release enhances and strengthens the ties of the Men & Mice Suite to the Microsoft platform. It brings intelligent and customizable handling of AD integrated DNS zones, allowing administrators to fine tune how zones are opened in the Men & Mice Suite's Management Console.
Men & Mice Suite version 5.5 brings substantial new features for managing Microsoft's DHCP servers, such as support for more DHCP options, improved handling of superscopes, and a detailed audit log of DHCP changes. However, the greatest improvement lies in the new version's seamless support for DHCP split-scope configurations. Administrators can now easily create and manage split-scope configurations through the Men & Mice Suite's Management Console, which provides a rich set of tools for working with DHCP, such as detailed graphical representations of split-scope configurations and powerful reporting. Using the Men & Mice Suite for managing split-scope setups makes it easy for administrators to guarantee identical reservations.
Men & Mice Suite version 5.5 also includes substantial new improvements for enterprise IP address management. By enabling more granular access control for IP address ranges and IP addresses, administrators can grant users and user groups access to individual ranges and IP addresses. It is possible to define any number of properties for individual IP addresses and IP address ranges, and sort and filter on any given property. Deeper integration with DNS and DHCP is also provided, as version 5.5 includes a new device information window, that is available from all views and which displays all resource records and properties for a given IP address.
Version 5.5 has been optimized for large corporate networks, providing better performance and scalability. Using the new version administrators can easily manage hundreds of servers, and thousands of DNS zones and DHCP scopes.
"Our customers have been eagerly awaiting this release, and we've also begun unveiling it for select prospects. To say the least, we see a lot of excitement," says Paul E. Terrill Director of US Eastern Region. "I have to admit that I am bit excited too. The new version makes us a perfect match for organizations which are running on Microsoft-based networks, and frankly that's a huge part of the market. With the increased importance of compliance and accountability in today's corporate environment, we believe more than ever that managing an IP address space should be a transparent and error free process. There is no question that the new release is big step towards achieving that goal."
The new Men & Mice Suite is scheduled to be available in November 2006. Please visit the Men & Mice website at www.menandmice.com for more information.
