Mindready Announces the Release of the PXI-based Universal Radio Tester, a Platform for Generating Analog and Digital Radio Signals Based on National Instruments Software and Hardware.
Market Wire, October, 2006
Mindready Solutions Inc. (TSX: MNY) today announced the release of the Universal Radio Tester (URT), a highly flexible and affordable solution for generating analog and digital radio signals such as AM, FM, RDS, XM®, Sirius®, HD Radio® (IBOC) and Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB). The product will be on display in the National Instruments booth at Convergence 2006 in Detroit, Michigan, October 16-18.
The Mindready URT, based on National Instruments LabVIEW, NI TestStandTM and the latest PXI modular instruments, consists of a PXI chassis, an embedded PXI controller and the PXI-5671 2.7 GHz RF vector signal generator. Options for the URT include an audio analyzer for testing the audio outputs of the radio and a Controller Area Network (CAN) interface for controlling automotive radios.
"In the converging world of telematics, the flexibility of the URT to generate many different signal types as well as to continuously stream content from the hard drive enables product designers and test engineers to use a single RF source to test multiple protocols. Future software upgrades will allow for generation and testing of video broadcasts and GPS signals," said Marc Lamy, president and chief executive officer.
"The URT will provide automotive radio manufacturers with a flexible platform to test multiple radio standards," said Joseph E. Kovacs, RF and communications marketing manager at National Instruments. "The URT demonstrates the power of the PXI RF platform to quickly develop solutions for the multiple standards that exist in the market."
The URT includes an intuitive interface for use as a stand-alone instrument and a library of function calls to control the generator remotely. Example programs and custom TestStand step types are included at no cost. The URT is software-based and can be upgraded to support future protocols. The URT is available now from Mindready.
