ARCHOS Introduces First 160GB Hard Drive Portable Video Player With the ARCHOS 504
Market Wire, October, 2006
The ARCHOS 504, the latest in the Generation 4 line from ARCHOS, Inc., acts as a storage powerhouse for consumers with large and growing media collections and is available now at www.archos.com . The new ARCHOS 504 Portable Media Player (PMP) is the first PMP to offer 160GB of storage capacity, which holds up to 155 DVD-quality movies, 95,000 songs or 1,600,000 photos(1). The ARCHOS 504 features three different hard drive capacities -- 40GB, 80GB and 160GB -- and like other PMPs in the Generation 4 line, features a 4.3 inch wide screen, support for all standard video formats(2), the signature Generation 4 simple navigation system, intuitive button layout and a variety of accessories for customizing the device.
"Today's information-oriented consumers need to have vast amounts of data available to them on a moment's notice anywhere they go at any given time," said Larry Smith, chief operating officer at ARCHOS, Inc. "The ARCHOS 504 was designed to address this need with varying storage capacities to meet individual preferences. With the introduction of the 504, consumers now have a video, audio, photo and data device in a hard drive size larger than many computer systems today."
Pricing and Availability
The ARCHOS 504 is available now in various retail outlets and on the ARCHOS Web site along with the other Generation 4 products. Suggested Retail Prices are as follows:
-- ARCHOS 504 40GB $349.99

Previously announced Generation 4 products include the ARCHOS 104 portable music player, and the ARCHOS 404 and 604 portable video players. The ARCHOS 404 is one of the thinnest and most affordable PMPs on the market today at only one-half-inch inch thick, yet boasts a large 3.5-inch screen for displaying video and photos. Suggested retail price is $299.99. The ARCHOS 604 retails for $349.99, showcases a large 4.3-inch display and is perfectly designed for watching video on the go. Both products offer 30GB hard drives, which can store up to 30 movies, 130 hours of TV programming, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs(1). ARCHOS will introduce the ARCHOS 604 WiFi in the coming weeks, which will be the industry's only wireless PMP on the market, with a touch screen and ability to synchronize content from any wireless device.
