Hosts Jon Kelley ("Extra TV") and Lauren Holly ("NCIS" on CBS) provided an entertaining welcome to the 2006 LA FASHION AWARDS stage production which opened with models lounging "backstage" on stage in Bed Head pajamas on the new Saturn Sky Roadster. The Awards presentations were interspersed with video vignettes providing refreshing back-story on all of the nominees and honorees, and runway shows featuring capsules collections from the Fashion Innovator nominees Rozae Nichols, Juan Carlos Obando, and Society for Rational Dress' Corinne Grassini.

In a surprise outcome, innovative celebrity retailer Kitson, nominated in TWO categories, Marketing Excellence and Fashion Retail, was passed by vintage specialist decades & decadestwo on the retail side and upstart COLLECTION bebe on the marketing side.
Guests in attendance were a Who's Who of the West Coast style industry, including retailers Ron Herman, Lisa Kline, Fraser Ross of Kitson, Mark Werts of American Rag, Jeannie Lee of Satine, designers Kevan Hall, Trina Turk, Nony Tochterman, Christopher Enuke, Suss Cousins, Meghan Fabulous, Uriel Saenz, Octavio Carlin, Juan Carlos Obando, Corinne Grassini of Society for Rational Dress, Gai Gherardi & Barbara McDaniel of LA Eyeworks, Project Runway alums Daniel Franco, Raymundo Baltazar, Nick Verreos and Andrae Gonzalo, among others. Celebrities coming out to show their support for California's brightest fashion talents included Michelle Trachtenberg, Lisa Edelstein, Aimee Garcia, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Los Angeles magazine is the presenting media partner. Surface magazine, California Apparel News, LA.com and LA Weekly are among the media sponsors.
