The Orchard's Music Catalogue to Be Available on MySpace.Com Through Landmark Agreement With SNOCAP
Market Wire, October, 2006
The Orchard, the world's leading digital distributor and marketer of independent music, and SNOCAP, the first end-to-end provider of digital licensing, copyright management, and artist distribution for the digital music marketplace, today announced a groundbreaking agreement to deliver e-commerce technology to Orchard-distributed labels and artists though their MySpace profiles or web sites. Under the agreement, Orchard customers will be able to use their MySpace pages as digital storefronts, with SNOCAP providing a secure commerce environment through its Digital Registry and The Orchard providing royalty administration, accounting, and payment services.
"This new and revolutionary offering adds to the already comprehensive menu of services we provide to our labels and artists by allowing them to manage their own digital retail storefront within their MySpace page," said Greg Scholl, chief executive of The Orchard. "SNOCAP's e-commerce solution on MySpace represents a powerful new sales and promotion platform -- one that further transforms how artists and their fans interact."
"SNOCAP's Digital Registry allows artists and labels to sell their music online while retaining full control over its distribution," said Rusty Rueff, chief executive officer for SNOCAP. "By adding The Orchard's extensive catalog of independent music to our Registry, our two companies are dramatically expanding the digital music marketplace for independent artists and fans alike."
