Dominion Video Satellite Offers HughesNet Broadband Satellite Internet Service to Its Sky Angel Customers
Market Wire, December, 2006
Dominion Video Satellite Inc., owner/operator of Sky Angel(TM), the leading direct broadcast satellite provider of Christian and family-friendly TV and radio channels, has signed with Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the leading provider of broadband satellite network solutions, to offer HughesNet(TM) high-speed, two-way satellite-based Internet service to Sky Angel customers.
"We are pleased to have selected Hughes as the preferred provider of Internet service to our customers," said Sky Angel CEO Rob Johnson. "Hughes' outstanding reputation and experience as the leading provider of broadband satellite network solutions makes the HughesNet service an obvious choice as a value-added option for our customers desiring high-speed Internet service via satellite."
Sky Angel delivers a popular mix of more than 30 Christian-inspirational, family, and news TV and radio channels into homes and churches in all 48 continental United States via a small, 20-inch satellite dish for $14.99 per month or $149.90 per year. With the addition of HughesNet, Sky Angel now provides a high-speed Internet solution for new and existing customers.
"Hughes is confident that Sky Angel and its customers will find HughesNet satellite broadband to be a reliable, convenient, and user-friendly service that will allow them to utilize the Internet in ways that are impossible with dial-up," stated Allen McCabe, assistant vice president of Channel Sales at Hughes.
By using satellite technology rather than a phone line, HughesNet provides a super-fast, always-on Internet connection. HughesNet enables browsers to get online instantly, surf and open pages more quickly, and download files in a fraction of the time it takes on dial-up. Residential pricing for HughesNet Internet service starts at $59.99 per month. The service is delivered through a Hughes satellite terminal comprising an antenna and modem dedicated to high-speed Internet service.
Commercial locations are also able to receive both the Sky Angel and HughesNet services.
To order HughesNet as an optional add-on service to their Sky Angel programming service or independently of Sky Angel, customers can contact Sky Angel at (800) SKY-ANGEL (759-2643) or visit www.skyangel.com .
