RTO Software Simplifies IT Asset Management With RTO Discover(TM)
Market Wire, December, 2006
RTO Software, a leading provider of application availability and management solutions for business-critical applications, announced today the launch of a new product -- RTO Discover(TM). With this release, RTO Discover virtually eliminates the need for IT staff to manually maintain asset information and inventory of hardware and software.
"Keeping an accurate inventory of hardware and software in real-time has become a challenge for businesses of all sizes. Without standardized tools for managing assets, many organizations are struggling to manage their technology investments through cumbersome spreadsheets and homegrown systems," said Kevin Goodman, CEO of RTO Software. "RTO Discover provides a solid, dependable application for tracking and reporting IT asset information."
In addition to asset management capabilities, RTO Discover provides:
Configuration Audit -- Allows users to identify differences from standard configurations and take corrective action as necessary. Helps IT managers circumvent some of the problems associated with maintaining hundreds of applications in a typical infrastructure.
Software License Tracking -- Maintains comprehensive and up-to-date information about application software licenses including deployment locations, number of licenses, when they expire, the users who have been assigned the licenses and more. This helps IT staff to obtain near real-time information about license usage to meet compliance requirements in the event of an audit.
Dependency Maps and Views -- Tracks application dependencies and provides the ability to drill-down to identify and annotate the infrastructure map and obtain multiple views such as infrastructure view, configuration view and application view. This allows IT users to view the infrastructure from their own perspective and to obtain simple blueprints showing relationships between servers, applications and resources.
"RTO Discover demonstrates its business value by giving users an accurate and up-to-date picture of their IT infrastructure," said Balu Rajagopal, RTO Software's vice president of marketing and business development. "The easy-to-read blueprints identify assets and show dependency maps between applications and devices."
"IT organizations should evaluate IT service dependency mapping tools for a (near) real-time view of their application/server infrastructure to discover drifts from configuration policies or when they need to be able to document accurately for compliance audits. Moreover, being able to see the relationships between applications and servers in an intuitive graphical user interface makes the decision process for assessing new changes or doing root cause analysis more attainable," explained Ronni Colville, Research VP at Gartner Inc.
The first version of this product is slated to be available for purchase in March 2007 or earlier.
