Silver Peak Joins the Network Appliance(TM) Partner Program to Provide Customers With Secure Data Replication and Disaster Recovery Across the Wide Area Network
Market Wire, March, 2007
Silver Peak Systems, Inc. ( www.silver-peak.com ), a leading provider of scalable Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration solutions, today announced membership in the NetApp Partner Program to improve the performance and security of data replication and recovery across the WAN. The Silver Peak and NetApp collaboration provides a solution for data protection that reduces the risk of exposure from failed disaster recovery processes by minimizing data transfer times and maximizing WAN bandwidth utilization.
As a NetApp Advantage Partner, Silver Peak has tested and verified its NX appliances with NetApp® SnapMirror®, SnapVault® and Open Systems SnapVault (OSSV). The combined NetApp and Silver Peak solution demonstrates significant performance improvements over non-accelerated environments, with a correspondingly significant reduction in WAN traffic. Silver Peak accelerates the transfer of numerous types of data in a NetApp storage environment, including file, email and video images. By addressing WAN link speeds ranging from several Megabits per second (Mbps) to several Gigabits per second (Gbps), the Silver Peak solution uniquely addresses the high capacity requirements of large data center environments.
Silver Peak also uniquely provides hardware-based encryption within the NX appliances and across the WAN link to ensure end-to-end data privacy between NetApp storage systems. This functionality is complementary to the Decru DataFort® storage security appliances from NetApp.
"Given the importance of WAN acceleration to business continuity, we are committed to working with leading partners in this space to provide fast and reliable replication and recovery services," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Products and Alliances at Network Appliance. "Silver Peak has demonstrated a proven ability to bring security and scale to enterprise data protection, making them an attractive solution in NetApp customer environments."
"Silver Peak helps NetApp enterprise storage systems achieve their true performance potential over impaired WAN links while adding additional security at the network layer to support any WAN environment, including the public Internet," said Craig Stouffer, vice president of worldwide marketing at Silver Peak. "We are pleased to be working with a respected leader in the storage industry to improve business operations through better data replication and disaster recovery."
