NetMotion Wireless Mobile VPN Certified for Use on Palm Treo Smartphones
Market Wire, April, 2007
NetMotion Wireless announced today that Mobility XE(TM) is the first Mobile VPN to meet the requirements for compatibility on Windows Mobile®-based Palm® Treo(TM) smartphones.
Thorough testing verified Mobility XE's compatibility with Palm Treo 700wx and Treo 750 devices, enabling mobile and wireless workers to confidently and securely access enterprise network resources and applications from their Treo smartphones with Mobility XE.(1) NetMotion's Mobility XE Mobile VPN software employs the same strong authentication and encryption technologies approved for use by the Federal government to secure VPN access and data transmitted to and from mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, Pocket PCs and smartphones. In addition to enhanced security, Mobility XE accelerates wireless performance and enables Treo users to roam among any IP-based network without dropping the VPN connection or crashing applications.
With Mobility XE's Policy Management module, enterprise IT departments can create dynamic policies to better manage the security, productivity and management of their Treo 700wx and Treo 750 users. IT managers can customize access policies by network or application, and prioritize bandwidth allocation so that the most-critical applications are allocated most of the available bandwidth to keep mobile workers productive.
"NetMotion Wireless' Mobility XE coupled with Palm Treo 700wx and Treo 750 devices empowers mobile workers with secure, remote access to network resources," said Tom Johnston, senior vice president, products and marketing at NetMotion Wireless. "Mobility XE is transparent to mobile workers and provides access to the same information and applications as their in-office counterparts -- improving their productivity and responsiveness in the field."
"As more and more enterprises recognize the business benefits associated with mobility, the demand for more powerful mobile devices and solutions for secure and reliable connectivity increases," said Mike Rank, director of developer relations for Palm, Inc. "Running Mobility XE on Treo 700wx and Treo 750 smartphones gives organizations confidence that they can mobilize their workforces without compromising security, performance or control."
Mobility XE 7.1 is available now from NetMotion Wireless for implementation on the Palm Treo 700wx and Treo 750 smartphones.
