Internode Launches Broadsoft-Based Two-Way VoIP Service for Australian Broadband Users
Market Wire, April, 2007
BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software, and Internode, an Australian broadband trailblazer, announced today the launch of NodePhone2 , Internode's second generation VoIP service. Using BroadSoft's BroadWork s® VoIP application platform , NodePhone2 delivers high-quality, two-way broadband voice services to residential and business customers throughout Australia.
The second generation of VoIP services under Internode's NodePhone brand, NodePhone2 enables customers to receive high-quality calls from the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), in addition to making outbound VoIP calls to the PSTN and other NodePhone customers. The comprehensive service includes such features as voicemail, speed dial, caller ID, and a Web portal customers can use to access itemized billing information and call history.
NodePhone2 is available both as an individual service and as part of flexible service packages that combine voice and broadband services. NodePhone1, Internode's original outbound-only VoIP calling service, will remain available as a separate service. Internode plans additional future developments in its NodePhone service range, underpinned by the BroadWorks platform. Internode is using Acme Packet, a BroadSoft Premier Access Solutions partner, for session border controllers for NodePhone2.
Internode Managing Director Simon Hackett said the BroadWorks platform was second to none. "Its scalability gives us a clear path to adding more services -- a key factor of our business strategy -- and its functionality enables us to offer a feature-rich service with guaranteed quality and reliability at a competitive price. What's more, BroadSoft is a key driver in what we see as the eventual migration of traditional telephone service to a telephony world dominated by VoIP," said Hackett.
"Internode is all about quality. Not only is NodePhone2 a high-quality VoIP solution that's grounded in traditional PSTN standards, but Internode is setting a new benchmark in Australia by using its national private network backbone to achieve the ultimate in quality," said Scott Wharton, vice president of Marketing for BroadSoft. "By expanding its service offerings to residential and business customers, Internode is positioning itself to significantly grow its market share."
"With over 100 common customers, Acme Packet and BroadSoft have extensive experience deploying premier VoIP solutions for large and small service providers around the globe," said Seamus Hourihan, Acme Packet's vice president of marketing and product management. "Our joint solution for Internode's NodePhone2 service brings together the necessary and elegant features of BroadSoft Broadworks with the service-enabling and security features of our Net-Net session border controllers."
