A Match Made in Creative Heaven: Neil Gaiman and Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Ask any fan of award-winning author Neil Gaiman's novels, poetry, children's stories, or other creative endeavors, and one theme runs constant -- his ability to create evocative, original, and thoroughly compelling and fantastical characters.

Likewise, ask any of the thousands of devotees of the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's (BPAL) perfumes, and they too will testify to the uncanny way in which perfumer Beth Schiffrin has a gift for creating scents that are equally as unique, memorable, and individualistic as Gaiman's literary characters, creating an unmistakable portrait of a character through scent much like Gaiman does through the written word.

In a match made in creative paradise, the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab is proud to announce the creation of a collection of fragrances based on some of Gaiman's best-loved characters.

BPAL's first fragrant tribute to the works of Gaiman, called "The Carousel," is a series of seven fragrances based upon favorite characters from two of his most popular novels -- "Anansi Boys" and "American Gods." These exclusive perfumes are now available to the public through the BPAL website ( www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com ).

All proceeds from the sale of the Carousel collection will benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, an organization dedicated to preserving and defending first amendment rights in the comics community. Gaiman is on the board of directors of this organization. To date, BPAL has raised nearly $8,000 for the fund through sales of the Carousel series.

This inspired collaboration does not stop there, as BPAL is currently working on a series of scents inspired by the characters of "Good Omens," co-authored by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Details of the release dates will be available soon on BPAL's website.

The collaboration between artistic visionaries is always an exciting and thought-provoking endeavor. Rarely, if ever, though, have modern literary characters been so lovingly and accurately interpreted by a skilled perfumer.
