Left Behind Games Launches New In-Game Advertising Program With Dell and Jeep Leading the Way
Market Wire, May, 2007
Left Behind Games Inc. (OTCBB: LFBG) and Double Fusion Inc., a leading advertising technology provider, have executed a new amendment which provides Left Behind Games the opportunity to develop its own sales force to offer advertising in their PC games. Currently, Dell, Jeep, game retailers and public service announcements are advertising in LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces (TM), a top-selling inspirational PC video game.
For many years, video games were largely out of the reach of advertisers. With groundbreaking technology from Double Fusion and others, traditional advertisers are taking advantage of the opportunity to target specific consumers through video games.
"The ads in our games actually enhance the gaming experience. Billboards in our virtual creation of New York City are brought alive with ads similar to those seen in real life," says Left Behind Games' CEO, Troy Lyndon. "Foreseeing the growth of in-game advertising, we have engineered hundreds of ad opportunities which can be updated weekly, either dynamically or via our automatic update-game feature."
Left Behind Games expects to generate significant revenue as a result of advertisers interested in following in the footsteps of Dell and Jeep, who have committed thousands for in-game advertisements.
Double Fusion states that advertising revenue potential in the video game audience is projected to grow as large as $1.5 billion in less than four years. According to eMarketers, gaming generates over $10 billion in annual sales of over 250 billion units in the United States. Video games are becoming a full-fledged advertising channel. eMarketers goes on to comment, this year, advertisers will increase spending in games by 45%, to $502 million, giving this advertising venue the title "mass market." It's estimated that video game advertising will grow nearly 23% a year over the next five years. The main reason? Everyone is playing.
The realistic skyscrapers in LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces have advertising real estate of 122 billboards in 40 game levels. Already one of the best-selling inspirational games ever made, Eternal Forces is now also one of most innovative examples of in-game advertising the game industry has seen.
