TCS and TeleContinuity, Inc. to Deliver COOP Information Hotline Solutions to DoD
Market Wire, August, 2007
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless data solutions, today announced the company has partnered with TeleContinuity, Inc. to ensure that its clients have telecommunications continuity services available to meet their individual Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Continuity of Government (COG) requirements.
Using TeleContinuity's unique survivable voice communications infrastructure as the underlying technology, TCS worked with Defense Telecommunications Service - Washington (DTS-W) to develop the COOP Information Hotline. Designed according to business continuity best practices, the COOP Information Hotline provides 24x7 two-way emergency communications between senior leadership and employees.
"With the continued increasing threat of natural and man-made disasters in today's world, implementing TeleContinuity's resilient network provides commercial and government clients with a backup telephone communications service that can deliver calls to any location, via any network and over any device," said Roy Pinchot, CEO of TeleContinuity. "Following a disaster or other disruptive event, a special DoD emergency access number connects critical staff to important up-to-the minute information and activates the backup telecom network that is capable of maintaining telecom continuity in the event the local carrier switches are out of service."
The COOP communications capability significantly improves the customer's ability to coordinate emergency response activities and meet essential emergency communications requirements, including personnel accountability.
"Partnering with TeleContinuity increases TCS' communications resilience to our customer organizations," stated Steven Casper, Director, Department of Defense Services at TCS. "This solution enables customers to maintain critical communications capabilities during a disaster, evacuation or other disruptive event. Our customers are required to maintain communications at all times in order to support COOP requirements in the National Capitol Region (NCR). The TeleContinuity survivable voice network is now available to the many agencies, departments and branches of the DoD in the NCR through DTS-W."
