University of Michigan Health System Selects AMES/Cardone Imaging Solution
Market Wire, August, 2007
AMES Color-File, the leader in information management solutions for healthcare, announces that its affiliates, AMES Digital, LLC and Cardone Record Services, have teamed up to implement an electronic document imaging solution for patients treated at any of the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) locations -- enabling timely and efficient medical record updates.
The University of Michigan Health System consists of three hospitals, approximately 30 health centers and 120 outpatient clinics, the U-M Medical School and its Faculty Group Practice, and the Michigan Health Corporation. All of these facilities use a Web-based application known as CareWeb to view patient data from a wide variety of clinical systems, including lab, radiology, registration, medical records, cardiology, and neurology, among others. The AMES Digital Solution powered by MRView will create a comprehensive system for patient medical care by making it possible for paper documents, such as specialized test results, nurses' notes, and information from other health centers, to be entered directly into the CareWeb system.
"We are achieving two major goals with this document imaging solution," stated Rosanne Whitehouse, Chief Administrator of Health Information Management. "First, we are increasing patient safety by having all medical information stored and accessible through a centralized data repository. Secondly, we are greatly enhancing our clinical efficiency through automated data importation."
MRView software, along with state-of-the-art scanning equipment, has been specifically designed for healthcare document imaging. With over twenty-five years of microfilming experience and ten years of scanning, Cardone Record Services provides impressive programming and workflow enhancements that seamlessly integrate with existing medical record applications.
"We are proud to be assisting UMHS to achieve a fully electronic HIM department," stated John C. Cardone, President and CEO. "This is a major endeavor, and we plan to have this resource accessible to the medical staff in October 2007. We have approximately forty members of our Professional Services team dedicated to the task of scanning the massive volume of documents into the CareWeb system to make sure we achieve this goal."
"AMES has been a partner with UMHS for over forty-five years," stated Robert Arnold, President of AMES Digital LLC. "We are pleased to be a part of this new initiative to enhance the electronic document system for this highly-esteemed medical health system."
