Idiot Pilot to Release Digital Version of New Album, "Wolves," October 2nd on Reprise Records
Market Wire, September, 2007
Idiot Pilot, an atmospheric rock duo from Bellingham, WA, will release a digital version of their second album for Reprise Records, titled "Wolves," on October 2nd, via online retailers, with the CD in stores January 22, 2008. The band, which consists of longtime friends and bandmates Daniel Anderson and Michael Harris, will hit the road on October 4th for a two-week U.S. tour with Warner Bros. Records label-mates The Spill Canvas, and in November, will follow up with a tour alongside friends Drop Dead Gorgeous until the end of the year.
An album with strong roots in alternative rock and ambient sound, "Wolves" also blends electronic elements with Anderson and Harris' post-hardcore influences. Produced by Ross Robinson (At The Drive-In, Glassjaw) and co-produced by Mark Hoppus (bassist for 44, Blink-182), the album takes the duo's sound to cinematic levels in both scope and vision. "I definitely feel like 'Wolves' is a huge progression for us," Harris says. "Music is what we live for."
"Wolves" represents many firsts for the duo. As opposed to their locally produced debut, "Strange We Should Meet Here" -- which was recorded on pirated software in Anderson's bedroom when the two were still in their teens, and later re-released on Reprise in 2005 -- "Wolves" looks to outside sources for production and collaboration (Ross Robinson, and Mark Hoppus).
In addition, "Wolves" -- with its soaring symphonic opener "Last Chance" and anthemic rockers "In Record Shape" and "Red Museum" -- marks the first time both Harris and Anderson were completely collaborative musically, still playing a majority of the instruments between just the two of them. Live drums were featured courtesy of Blink-182/Transplants/ 44 drummer Travis Barker on "Elephant" and the Dillinger Escape Plan's Chris Pennie on the remaining tracks.
The band just released the video for their first single "Retina and The Sky," which premiered September 4th on IMEEM.com and is currently posted on YouTube's WBR Channel http://youtube.com/user/warnerbrosrecords , as well as on the band's website. The single is also included on the soundtrack to the live-action robot fantasy film "Transformers," which was released earlier this summer.
