Market Wire, September, 2007
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world's leading professional societies for the engineering and technology communities, and Cisco® (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced they are working together to promote professional development in the IT (information technology) industry.
The IET and Cisco are helping to address the global shortage of IT professionals by raising awareness of education and career opportunities through joint marketing activities. Under the terms of the agreement, holders of a Cisco certification will be eligible to receive fast-track entry to IET membership, which will provide them with exclusive member products and services.
"We recognize that the Cisco career certifications play an important part in raising professionalism within the sector," said Robin McGill, chief executive and secretary of the IET. "The IET is committed to increasing the level of proficiency and professional development in engineering and technology, and therefore our working together is an important development in supporting the advancement of technologists around the globe."
As members of the IET, Cisco certification holders will be able attend IET-sponsored events, communicate with fellow IT professionals through local networks, access online libraries of technical publications and books, and take advantage of a variety of support services designed to further professional development.
"Cisco is committed to providing our community of certified individuals with the best resources available for continued education and training," said Jeanne Beliveau-Dunn, senior director for Learning@Cisco. "We are pleased that the IET has opened its doors to Cisco certification holders worldwide and feel the decision underscores the value of Cisco career certifications in the global IT marketplace."
