ACI: Mergers and Acquisitions in China Conference -- New Panel to Discuss China's Passage of Anti-Monopoly Law
Market Wire, September, 2007
American Conference Institute, organizers of the 3rd National Symposium on Mergers and Acquisitions in China taking place December 10-11, 2007 at the Westin Times Square in New York, announced today that a new session has been added to the program.
The Impact of China's New Anti-Monopoly Law on Mergers & Acquisitions
On August 30, 2007, after thirteen years on the drawing board, the National People's Congress approved China's Anti-Monopoly Law. This new law will ban price-fixing, collusion, excessive market concentration and other monopolistic practices by both private and state-owned businesses. The most controversial provision of the law calls for the government to conduct more formal reviews of foreign purchases of Chinese companies based on their potential to harm national security, including economic security. The new law will take effect on August 1, 2008.
To help you understand the implications of this law on your Chinese investment, ACI has added a special session to its 3rd National Symposium on Mergers and Acquisitions in China. Our faculty of top business and legal minds will share their insights as to what this reform will mean for your investment.
