Georgia-Pacific Creates New Business Unit Offering One-Stop Guest Solutions for Foodservice Operators
Market Wire, October, 2007
Georgia-Pacific LLC today announced the creation of Georgia-Pacific Food Services Solutions, a new business unit serving as a single turnkey source of comprehensive solutions for quick service and fast casual service restaurants. Georgia-Pacific Food Services Solutions combines the strengths of two former business units -- Dixie® Foodservice and the Commercial Foodservice Group -- into a highly focused business team that makes, markets and sells the group's broad range of products.
"We want to make life easier for foodservice operators," said Bill Donahue, vice president and general manager of the new business unit. "With the new Food Services Solutions business unit, Georgia-Pacific offers our full range of quality products and services that touch every part of a foodservice facility. By utilizing our turnkey service and our full suite of products, operators can provide customers with an enhanced dining experience while significantly increasing the quality of their brand."
The new Food Services Solutions business unit will be anchored by a team of dedicated sales and service professionals leveraging the company's nearly 100 years of experience in foodservice operations. Georgia-Pacific experts work one-on-one with operators to determine specific needs and to design the perfect "feel of the meal(TM)," so that guests feel so good about their dining experience that they return again and again.
The importance of all touch-points within a foodservice operation -- the non-food product quality including ease-of-use, dependability and superior hygiene -- is clearly understood by restaurant operators and is increasingly being demanded by foodservice consumers.
"Our experience tells us that people walking into a restaurant want the food to be delicious and fresh, of course, but they also want the sense of security that the cutlery is free of germs and the restrooms are clean," Donahue said. "Consumers also care greatly about packaging, even if they don't think of it in those terms. They want a cup of hot coffee that they can handle safely and won't spill or leak. They want containers that won't collapse under the weight of food, and they want to know that foodservice operations are working to reduce their environmental impact wherever they can. Georgia-Pacific has products and years of expertise in meeting customer needs that will ensure a simple, clean and complete experience for patrons and will, in turn, help elevate the level of a customer's brand in the eyes of the consumer."
Among the products offered to foodservice operators by the new Food Services Solutions business are:
-- Serving Solutions
- PerfecTouch® - premier insulated cup that keeps beverages
warm or cold and eliminates the need for cardboard sleeves

This one-stop approach for foodservice operators is designed to make life much simpler and more effective. By offering all products and services under one Food Services Solutions group, foodservice operators can realize instant benefits in the form of efficiency and improved cost of running their business, as well as improved levels of service and hygiene for consumers.
Every touch-point a foodservice operator has with its guests is an opportunity to leave a positive brand impression. Georgia-Pacific Food Services Solutions has a unique understanding of how foodservice products work "in action" and how that contributes to brand perception. A cup is not just a cup; it's about the way it feels in the customer's hand. We believe that cutlery from a dispenser is more appealing than from an open bin and that napkins can add value to a brand when the customer has the right size at the right time in the right location. We apply our experience and unique insights on product image, hygiene and sustainability issues and come up with a customized solution that works to our customers' advantage.
Our lineup features Dixie® products, with almost 100 years of experience in offering a comprehensive line of paper and plastic cups and containers, plates and bowls, cartons and trays, cutlery, straws and food wrap. The Georgia-Pacific tissue, towel, napkin and soap products feature reliable and hygienic brands such as enMotion®, Compact®, EasyNap®, Brawny® and Pacific Garden®.
