MailExpress Appoints Stephen Murdock as Chief Financial Officer
Market Wire, October, 2007
MailExpress Inc. announced the appointment of Stephen Murdock to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Murdock is a proven senior executive with over 25 years of financial experience, including chief financial officer positions at Orion HealthCorp, Nations Healthcare and SmartMail.
"We conducted an exhaustive search for our CFO because we needed the best person possible for the job," said Bob Moss, MailExpress CEO. "We found that person in Steve Murdock. Steve has a strong track record as a strategic financial officer. Steve has direct experience in our business and brings with him expertise in negotiating credit financing, securing equity investments, implementing disciplined financial controls and providing meaningful insight to support effective decision-making. Our business is scaling so rapidly and the experience that Steve brings in both venture-backed private companies as well as publicly trading companies will be invaluable. The addition of Steve to our senior management team is a key component to MailExpress' success as we execute our aggressive growth strategy."
Most recently, Murdock served as Chief Financial Officer of Orion HealthCorp, where he was responsible for Orion's operational finance and accounting. In 2004, Murdock completed a reverse merger between Orion HealthCorp and Integrated Physician Solutions, where he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer prior to joining Orion HealthCorp.
From 1999-2002, Murdock served as CFO and SVP Administration of SmartMail, the company that pioneered the expedited mail industry. At SmartMail, Murdock secured over $45M in equity capital financing and helped to successfully position the company for a sale to DHL, which resulted in an attractive return to investors. The original founders of SmartMail later founded MailExpress Inc.
"I am very excited about the opportunity with MailExpress and being able to work closely with Bob and our senior management team, including some of my colleagues from SmartMail," said Murdock. "I believe my financial experience with privately held and publicly held companies will provide value to our customers and stakeholders as we continue as a team to build on the success that MailExpress has achieved thus far."
Two-year-old MailExpress has quickly become the preferred choice for expedited mailing of mission-critical business correspondence. Recently, MailExpress announced completion of its Series B funding round of $15 million, and the opening of its seventh facility thus far in 2007.
