Mark Logic to Hold Executive Publishing Seminar on the Agile Publishing Imperative
Market Wire, October, 2007
What: Mark Logic® Corporation, provider of the industry's leading XML
content server, today announced that it will hold an executive
publishing seminar on Thursday, November 8, 2007, featuring David
Worlock, chief research fellow of Outsell, Inc., and Howard
Ratner, chief technology officer of Nature Publishing Group.
"The Agile Publishing Imperative: Accelerate the Creation of
Information Products," will include commentary on market trends
and realities from leading market watcher and publishing guru,
David Worlock. Outsell published its seminal report on agile
publishing more than two years ago, challenging publishers to
adopt agile development principles. David will share his
perspective on how publishing companies have responded to this
challenge and which segments have successfully adopted agile
techniques. He will also make predictions of where the information
industry is headed in the near future.
The executive event will share an example of agile publishing at
work at Nature Publishing Group. Nature, a consistent innovator in
the industry, was one of the first to apply Web 2.0 techniques to
the publishing process, deploying XML to modularize content for
targeted reuse and delivery. This move has positioned Nature to
accelerate the development process to launch new products within
weeks in some cases. Howard Ratner, Nature's chief technology
officer, will profile results and benefits of agile publishing and
share lessons learned on people, processes, and technology.
David and Howard will join for a panel discussion following their
presentations.
Who: David Worlock chairs Outsell's Europe-based Executive Leadership
Councils, a member-service for CEOs and senior executives of media
publishing and information-provider firms. A respected thought
leader, he frequently speaks at industry conferences and advises
clients worldwide.
Howard Ratner is chief technology officer of Nature Publishing
Group. Based in New York, Howard is in charge of US operations and
has global responsibilities for Production and Manufacturing,
Emerging Technologies, Web Development and Operations, and IT
across all NPG products. He serves on the board of directors for
CrossRef and CLOCKSS, leads CrossRef Web Services, and is a member
of the CCC Publisher Advisory and the STM Future Lab committees.
The event will be hosted by Mark Logic Corporation. Mark Logic is
uniquely positioned to help publishers unlock the value of their
content to drive agile publishing business models that speed the
delivery of new information products.
When: "The Agile Publishing Imperative: Accelerate the Creation of
Information Products," will be held from 8:00 - 11:00 am on
