Leading Signage Company Deploys Fortinet to Secure Network
Market Wire, October, 2007
Fortinet® -- the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced that Everbrite, a global leader in design, engineering and manufacturing of quality signage products, has replaced its Check Point Software network security infrastructure with Fortinet's FortiGate(TM) multi-threat security appliances for firewall, antivirus, VPN, intrusion prevention and Web content filtering. The FortiGate systems are helping to protect the corporate network as well as providing limited connections between its Wisconsin headquarters and multiple manufacturing sites throughout the state, as well as in California, Kansas and Illinois.
Everbrite offers "one-stop shopping" design and manufacturing services for a wide variety of visual identification products, such as the McDonald's arches, Marathon Oil gas station signs, neon Budweiser beer signs, scoreboards and much more.
While using a network security solution provided by Check Point, Everbrite found renewal costs to be extremely expensive and they also wanted the ability to filter Websites. To find the best unified threat management solution, Everbrite turned to JSO Technology LLC, a value-added reseller and consulting firm focused on providing best of breed data security, network infrastructure and network operating systems/application solutions and services for their customers. With the help of JSO, Everbrite selected Fortinet's unified threat management appliances.
"Since deploying Fortinet's appliances we've been very impressed with the solution's functionality, ease of use, robustness and stability," said Cindi Herzog, data communications administrator at Everbrite. "Fortinet's powerful, reliable solution allows us to maintain confidence in the security of our network while also allowing time to focus on other IT-related imperatives."
Everbrite deployed a FortiGate-300A multi-threat security system and FortiAnalyzer centralized reporting system at its Wisconsin headquarters. The FortiGate offers comprehensive security with firewall, antivirus, intrusion protection and Web content filtering in a single appliance for all data traversing the Everbrite corporate network. The FortiAnalyzer provides centralized granular reporting and analyzing on enterprise network usage to the IT staff.
Fortinet FortiGate-60 appliances are deployed at six manufacturing locations in California, Illinois, Kansas and Wisconsin. The FortiGate appliances provide antivirus and Web content filtering functionality, plus limited VPN functionality from the manufacturing locations to headquarters.
As a side benefit, Web filtering has helped boost worker productivity during a standard workday. While granting Internet access, Fortinet also enables Everbrite to control access to specific Websites and block usage of personal P2P applications such as AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and Skype. Unlike the prior offerings from Check Point, the Fortinet solution also allows IT administrators to deploy Website access policies based on group classifications or individual user roles -- including detailed reporting of Internet usage by each employee.
Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam, and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard Network, which helps ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic and more -- around the clock and around the world. FortiAnalyzer systems are purpose built appliances that provide valuable intelligence and simplify and centralize the collection and analysis of log and event data from Fortinet's FortiGate security appliances, delivering highly relevant network reports, valuable intelligence on network usage and assistance with meeting regulatory compliance.
"Since deploying Fortinet's FortiGate and FortiAnalyzer systems, Everbrite has reaped the benefits of having integrated, scalable multi-threat security and a valuable analysis tool," said Karl Soderlund, vice president of Americas sales and global alliances for Fortinet. "With Fortinet customers like Everbrite are able to deploy a powerful UTM solution that will scale to accommodate future growth and demands within its budget requirements."
