Fujitsu Siemens Computers First OEM for Egenera PAN Manager Software
Market Wire, November, 2007
On the heels of the announcement that Egenera will make its PAN Manager(TM) software available on other vendors' hardware platforms, the company today announced Fujitsu Siemens Computers as its first OEM partner. Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to integrate Egenera® PAN Manager(TM) software with its PRIMERGY server line as one part of its FlexFrame Infrastructure unveiled today (see Fujitsu Siemens Computers press release). FlexFrame Infrastructure is the next milestone towards Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Dynamic Data Center strategy to drive business-responsive IT using the latest virtualization and automation technologies. Egenera PAN Manager is one core component to the new offering, providing a new level of intelligence and virtualization including the dynamic provisioning and management of both physical and virtual resources.
Egenera also announced a three-year extension to its existing OEM agreement with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, under which Fujitsu Siemens Computers sells the Egenera® BladeFrame® product family in Europe, the Middle East and Africa under the PRIMERGY BladeFrame brand. The renewed agreement also includes joint development components, including the integration of Egenera PAN Manager software with Fujitsu Siemens Computers' ServerView Suite and the PRIMERGY BX600 blade server as part of the FlexFrame Infrastructure product family. The two companies have been partners since 2005, amassing major enterprise customers in more than 20 countries throughout EMEA, including major wins in the service provider, financial services and government sectors.
"With FlexFrame Infrastructure, Fujitsu Siemens Computers brings the industry first application agnostic Service-oriented Infrastructure to the market. We are enhancing one of the industry's most advanced dynamic computing systems, delivered by the PRIMERGY BladeFrame family and extending it to the rest of the PRIMERGY server line," said Dieter Herzog, executive vice president Infrastructure Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "PAN Manager software is a key technology for FlexFrame Infrastructure, whose combination provides customers with proven infrastructure agility, high availability and cost savings."
Egenera PAN Manager software complements widely-deployed server virtualization (hypervisor) solutions by delivering full infrastructure virtualization that provides:
-- Simple and seamless provisioning and management for both physical and
virtual servers, virtual networks and storage;
-- Cost effective high availability through Egenera's patented N 1
availability technology;
-- Verifiable disaster recovery through Egenera's patented N 1 DR

-- Simple right sizing and scalability through dynamic repurposing; and
-- Effective chargeback capabilities, logical, secure partitioning, and
named pools of resources
"The partnership between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Egenera has been a great success for both companies," said Mike Thompson, Egenera president and CEO. "It is for that reason that we are gratified to announce them as our first strategic OEM for PAN Manager software on Fujitsu Siemens Computers' hardware platforms. We are very pleased to have strengthened and extended our relationship and to be able to leverage the combined strengths of both companies to deliver a broader set of powerful solutions to the market."
