IBM Recognized by Independent Research Firm as a Leader in Enterprise Content Management
Market Wire, November, 2007
IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that its Enterprise Content Management software portfolio has been cited as a leader in the November 2007 Forrester Wave report, "The Forrester Wave(TM): Enterprise Content Management Suites, Q4 2007."
According to Forrester's Q4 2007 report(1), "IBM distances itself from other enterprise content management (ECM) suite vendors by offering the richest core set of ECM capabilities: imaging, document management, content archiving, records management, and content integration."
"IBM's broad hardware, software, and services portfolio make it one of the largest technology vendors. Information and knowledge management pros will find this breadth of hardware, software and services appealing as they look for a single vendor to help them manage content -- and information -- throughout the enterprise," wrote Kyle McNabb, principal analyst, Forrester.
"We are pleased that Forrester has recognized IBM as a leader in the ECM market in its latest report," said Lee Roberts, general manager, Enterprise Content Management, for IBM. "IBM's comprehensive ECM portfolio provides customers with an integrated set of software and tools that allow organizations to manage content, transform and optimize business processes and enable compliance throughout their information infrastructure."
In its Wave report, Forrester states, "IBM's information management strategy, plus its strong focus on the needs of enterprise architects and application developers, help make IBM an ECM suite leader." According to the report, IBM FileNet P8 is an especially good fit for buyers who:
-- Want to address high-volume transactional content processes;
-- Want a platform that supports a broad range of content needs;
-- Want a platform that builds upon established IT standards.
IBM's Enterprise Content Management software supports the company's global Information on Demand initiative, which provides customers with the information they need to improve their business processes, quickly respond to market needs and rapidly identify new business opportunities.
