Visual Numerics Announces OEM Agreement With SAP For SAP NetWeaver(R)
Market Wire, December, 2007
Visual Numerics , Inc., a leading producer of advanced numerical analysis and visualization software , today announced an OEM agreement with SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), the world's leading provider of business software. Under the terms of the agreement, the Visual Numerics' IMSL® C Numerical Library version 6.0 will be embedded into the SAP NetWeaver® platform. The IMSL C Library will be integrated into TREX -- a structured and unstructured data processing component of SAP NetWeaver -- providing the TREX engine with functions for data analytics such as outlier detection, dependency analysis and forecasting. SAP® applications that use the TREX engine will benefit from this new embedded functionality.
Increasingly advanced analytics such as predictive forecasting have become an important requirement for process-embedded, intelligent analytic applications. Therefore, the analytics technology needs to be an integral element of the underlying SAP NetWeaver platform. SAP NetWeaver also serves as the foundation for a wide range of solutions for performance management, addressing the specific financial and operational needs of customers in over 25 industries.
SAP selected Visual Numerics due to its breadth and depth of embeddable IMSL C Library algorithms, Visual Numerics' long-term reputation for advanced analytics, as well as its world-class international support.
"We're honored to help SAP introduce the power of advanced analytics to its customers," said Phil Fraher, president and CEO of Visual Numerics. "SAP's selection of Visual Numerics' libraries validates our vision that advanced analytics is a critical component for today's business applications, and that embeddable libraries provide software vendors like SAP with a broader, customizable analytics alternative than building this functionality in-house or buying a one-size-fits-all solution."
