Market Wire, December, 2007
NEXT.TV (TM), the revolutionary new Internet television service debuting on HP consumer notebooks, today announced the addition of Hearst Magazines Digital Media as a NEXT.TV channel partner bringing original video programming from its magazine brands including CosmoGIRL!, Good Housekeeping, and Marie Claire. Hearst Magazines, a unit of Hearst Corporation, is one of the world's largest publishers of monthly magazines with 19 U.S. titles and nearly 200 international editions.
The NEXT.TV service will initially be available via a web update on HP consumer notebooks that have been shipping with Microsoft Windows Vista since January 2007. HP notebook users can access NEXT.TV through HP QuickPlay(TM), allowing them to watch hundreds of television and video programs with on-demand Internet television channels. As many HP consumer notebooks can be connected to TVs through an S-Video or HDMI connection, these users can bring the NEXT.TV experience into the living room. With the provided remote control, NEXT.TV content can be enjoyed from up to 10 feet away, adding a new dimension to the Internet viewing experience.
"This relationship not only offers us an innovative way to syndicate original video content to millions of potential viewers, but it will also help to extend the readers' overall brand experience beyond the pages of magazines and Web sites directly onto their computers and television screens," said Chuck Cordray, VP and general manager, Hearst Magazines Digital Media. "We are very pleased to be working with NEXT.TV on this exciting initiative."
"CosmoGIRL! connects with readers beyond the pages of the magazine and into all areas of their lives," said Kristine Welker, VP and publisher, CosmoGIRL!. "As CosmoGIRL! is constantly developing new and innovative ways to expand our brand platform and strengthen our connection with consumers, we are excited about the opportunity to deliver our great content to teenage girls through NEXT.TV."
Powered by IPTV pioneer DAVE Networks, NEXT.TV brings a true TV-like experience to consumer PCs while offering an unprecedented user experience. NEXT.TV brings together advertisers, content owners and viewers in an easy to use entertainment driven environment. NEXT.TV can be accessed with a wired or wireless broadband Internet connection and offers broadcast-quality content to viewers for free.
