Fisher Communications Marks 20th Anniversary of Minority Scholarship Fund With Latest Round of Winners

Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI) announced the winners of the Fisher Broadcasting Company Minority Scholarship Fund program, which for the past 20 years has helped high achieving college students further their education in broadcasting. This year's scholarships, totaling nearly $13,000, were awarded to the following six students for the 2007-2008 academic year: Kimberly Cartagenga, University of Washington; Yuri Jung, Washington State University; Heba Kanso, University of Oregon; Matthew Santos, Western Washington University; Whitney Tyner, University of Washington; and Roya Zahed, University of Washington.

Fisher's Minority Scholarship Fund awards are available to minority college students who have demonstrated need and academic achievement, completed at least one year of college, and enrolled in a broadcast-oriented curriculum. Launched in 1987, the program is designed to help remove financial barriers and increase the number of African-American, Hispanic-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Arab-American, Asian- and Pacific Islander-American students enrolling in and completing undergraduate programs in the broadcasting field.
