ScriptLogic Corporation Introduces Stand-Alone Remote Management Solution for Local, Remote, Mobile and Home Users
Market Wire, December, 2007
ScriptLogic® Corporation ( www.scriptlogic.com ), a leading provider of systems lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® Windows®-based networks and a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Software, Inc., today announced the release of Desktop Authority® Remote Management Gateway(TM), a stand-alone solution which features the award-winning Desktop Authority's remote management client, extending its reach to users across both the local area network (LAN) and the Internet. Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway reduces the cost of providing support to local and remote workers with secure, centralized, Web-based remote control and assistance.
Desktop Authority, ScriptLogic's comprehensive desktop configuration management solution, includes a remote management (RM) client that provides IT administrators with multiple troubleshooting tools allowing them to provide help in the background without disturbing the user, or by sharing interactive control of a user's desktop. With the introduction of Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway, IT administrators realize the same benefits the Desktop Authority remote management client offers on the LAN, but can extend its reach beyond the local network to users in any location on the Internet. Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway provides support for desktops running Windows 2000, Windows XP and Vista, in both 32- and 64-bit versions.
"ScriptLogic's Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway addresses a key desktop management challenge, the need to provide rapid assistance for a remote user hundreds of miles offsite when they aren't connected to the corporate network," said Jon Rolls, senior director of product management at ScriptLogic. "The stand-alone product is an excellent complement to the Desktop Authority product family and essential for any enterprise in need of a cost-effective solution for desktop management of users, no matter where they are -- local, remote, at home or on the road."
In addition to traditional remote control functions, allowing an IT administrator to access the remote computer's on-screen display, the extensive feature set allows IT administrators to perform background maintenance and diagnostic tasks without disrupting the end user. Other features include:
-- End-to-End Security: Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway
utilizes: SSL communication for secure remote management; a gateway for
secure transmission through dual-firewall DMZ networks; and multiple factor
administrator access control using certificates and IP ranges in addition
to user names and passwords.
-- Scalable, Enterprise-Ready Design: The distributed architecture allows
load-balancing of components across multiple servers, and Desktop Authority
Remote Management Gateway is completely administered through a Web-based
console so administrators can rapidly support users from wherever they are.
In November, ScriptLogic acquired Kemma Software and released ScriptLogic BridgeTrak 7.0, a comprehensive help desk software for reporting and tracking help desk issues. (See recent ScriptLogic BridgeTrak press release ). Now, using BridgeTrak in conjunction with Desktop Authority Remote Management Gateway, IT administrators extend the reach of the IT help desk with the ability to remediate tracked issues on computers via the enterprise network and across the Internet.
