Market Wire, January, 2008
Baynote, Inc. ( www.baynote.com ), a leader in intent-driven product and content recommendations for the business web, today announced that CEO Jack Jia will speak at Shop.org's 2008 Strategy & Innovation Forum ( http://www.shop.org/innovation08/ ), held January 22-24 at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando. In a session titled "Monetizing the Long Tail," Mr. Jia will examine the economics of the Long Tail, discussing how a combination of unconventional social science and Web 2.0 principles can help retailers up-sell and cross-sell a diverse set of products to profit from the Long Tail of eCommerce.
Mr. Jia will be joined by Brian Elliott, President and CEO of Alibris ( www.alibris.com ), the premiere online destination for new and used books and one of the pioneering companies cited in the famed book "The Long Tail" by Wired editor-in-chief Chris Anderson. The audience will walk away with tricks of the trade from a Long Tail trail-blazer, learning strategies and best practices for successfully applying this revolutionary theory to eCommerce practices. The session will be followed by two deeper dive discussions on monetizing the Long Tail and Long Tail metrics.
"Alibris is pleased to join Baynote in exploring the strategies and intricacies of making the Long Tail dream a reality," says Brian Elliott, Alibris President and CEO. "We share a philosophy that businesses must help their customers explore and enjoy products farther down the Long Tail."
