Market Wire, February, 2008

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today the launch of "The Future of Shopping" podcast, the fourth episode in its 2008 series of conversations with thought leaders on how technology will change everyday life. Listen to the podcast on ibm.com: http://www.ibm.com/ibm/syndication/podcasts/future/february01_2008.shtml

Hosted by IBM's Jenny Galitz McTighe, the new IBM podcast features Robert Garf, vice president and general manager of retail strategies at AMR Research, and Fred Balboni, global retail industry leader for IBM's Global Business Services. "The Future of Shopping" conversation focuses on how retailers are evolving their business models to better connect with today's sophisticated, informed, tech savvy consumers.

A recent IBM study revealed only 20 percent of consumers are loyal to their primary retailer. As retailers aim to establish future loyalty, they will evolve how their customers interact with physical stores and extend the experience to online and virtual channels. Innovations such as endless aisles and mobile checkout will help create an enhanced shopping experience that will drive customer advocacy.
