Jason R. Baron of National Archives and Records Administration and IE Discovery's Angela Reeves Offer New Strategies for Discovery Management
Market Wire, February, 2008
IE Discovery, a leading provider of comprehensive Discovery Management solutions for the legal community, presented two complimentary CLE seminars offering practical solutions to attorneys facing the evolving challenges of electronic discovery. This program included top technological and legal minds joining together to provide practical solutions to attorneys facing mountains of electronic discovery, first by winnowing it down and then by applying cutting-edge search techniques as part of review.
Jason R. Baron, Director of Litigation at the National Archives and Records Administration, presented a 90-minute CLE session entitled: "Beyond Keywords: Optimizing Your Search Strategy In E-Discovery." In his seminar, Mr. Baron discussed the implications of the Sedona Search Commentary, and reported on the findings of new research coming out of the TREC Legal Track sponsored by NIST multi-year international legal research project designed to identify the challenges, and best practices for solutions, associated with high-volume information retrieval.
In addition, Angela Reeves, Manager of the Standards Department for Information Services at IE Discovery, presented a 60-minute CLE session entitled: "Multiplicity: How to Reduce Review and Production Costs by Dealing with Duplicates." In her presentation, Ms. Reeves explained how to identify and handle duplicates and near-duplicates to greatly reduce review and production costs during discovery.
"Education and awareness are two of the most critical tools available to help successfully overcome today's electronic discovery challenges," said Chris May, CEO at IE Discovery. "Mr. Baron and Ms. Reeves did a wonderful job addressing new discovery management strategies, and providing helpful strategic advice for cost efficiencies and workflow improvements."
Mr. Baron, a former Justice Department lawyer who represented the White House and the Archivist of the U.S. in two leading records law cases involving White House e-mail, currently serves as NARA's representative to The Sedona Conference, and is Editor-in-Chief of the Sedona Search Commentary. Additionally, Mr. Baron is a founding co-coordinator of the NIST TREC Legal Track.
Ms. Reeves has been at IE Discovery since 2004. As the company's Standards Manager, she is responsible for the standardization and oversight of automated processes across all clients. Ms. Reeves has worked for clients across a wide variety of industries.
The two complimentary CLE sessions took place on February 13, 2008 at the Microsoft-Chesapeake Conference Room in Washington, D.C.
