Revolutionary RFID Tag, Omni-ID Prox(TM), Nominated for Best in Show Award by RFID Journal
Market Wire, March, 2008
Omni-ID(TM) ( www.Omni-ID.com ), a leading innovator in passive ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, today announced that its Omni-ID Prox(TM) tag has been selected as a top-ten finalist for RFID Journal LIVE's Best in Show award. Omni-ID Prox is a short-range, passive UHF RFID tag that offers the smallest form factor and unrivaled performance of any similar tag on the market today. Its innovative, breakthrough design allows the tag to capture and concentrate RF energy from a standard reader without suffering interference from surrounding materials, including metals and liquids. With an excellent price-to-performance ratio, Omni-ID Prox enables end-users to reliably and accurately track their organizations' assets and stock levels in harsh environments and in applications with little available real estate.
"We are thrilled about Omni-ID Prox being nominated for RFID Journal's prestigious Best in Show award," said Thomas C. Pavela, President and CEO of Omni-ID. "This honor is particularly gratifying for us as we just formally launched the company in February. Our scientists and engineers designed and built Omni-ID Prox to provide the highest level of quality, performance and accuracy. It is their passion for innovation and strong customer focus that is driving everything we do at Omni-ID, and which enabled us to create and offer a truly groundbreaking product such as Omni-ID Prox."
The Omni-ID Prox tag was specifically designed for asset identification where increased visibility and asset registration are essential. It delivers unmatched precision in the tracking of smaller high-value assets, electronic devices, communications and network cards, servers, and other assets or applications that demand high performance. In addition, Omni-ID Prox can be utilized to track tools or products during manufacturing as well as manage asset rentals.
The 10 Best in Show award finalists were selected by RFID Journal editor, Mark Roberti, and four distinguished industry expert judges, including:
-- Harold Boeck, Professor, Quebec's Universite de Sherbrooke
-- Bill Hardgrave, Director, RFID Research Center at the University of
Arkansas
-- Gordon S. Holder, Retired Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy and Principal, Booz
Allen Hamilton, Inc.
-- Fred Riggins, Assistant Professor, Carlson School of Management at the
University of Minnesota
During the RFID Journal LIVE tradeshow, April 16 -18 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, the 10 finalists will present their product or technology to the panel of judges and show attendees, who will then vote for their favorite. The Best in Show award winner will be announced after the show on the RFID Journal web site.
Serving New Markets
Omni-ID's strategic focus is to provide affordable, high performance RFID solutions to markets previously underserved by this technology, including information technology, telecommunications, industrial and retail industries. The company will be releasing additional passive, UHF RFID tags in the coming months to serve a larger range of RFID needs. Launched as a stand alone company from international defense and security technology company, QinetiQ, Omni-ID is backed by QinetiQ Ventures LP, a technology venture fund managed by partners from Cody Gate Ventures LLP. These partners have a proven track record of more than 20 years as venture investors, entrepreneurs, and business builders.
NOTE: Omni-ID will be hosting a press conference at RFID Journal LIVE on Thursday, April 17th at 1pm in the Bassano Ballroom (#2702) in the Congress Center of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The company's exhibit will be at booth #353.
